Nepal European Union Film Festival to begin virtually
The Oscars award has been postponed for two months due to the worldwide COVID-19 according to a press statement released by Film Development Board, Nepal. The award, which was earlier set to be held in February 2021, has been shifted to April 2021. The 93rd edition of the Oscars is set for April 25 next year. However, due to the ongoing pandemic around the world, the Oscars have changed not only the date of the award ceremony but also some rules.
According to the information sent to the Oscars committee of Nepal, the deadline for sending the film has been pushed to two months further this year. In the previous year, the film had to be sent by the end of October, but this year, the deadline is December 31. This year's Oscars award has also become flexible for films that have not been released due to pandemic.
According to the previous rule, the film willing to compete must be released and should run for a week in cinema halls. However, films that have not been released in this way can compete in the Oscars this year. For this, the concerned film member will have to submit a letter to the Oscars Committee stating that the release of the film has been stopped by the government, to run in the recognized cinema hall. At the same time, the filmmaker will be able to participate, even if their films have been released on the streaming site without being released in the movie hall.
