The meeting held at Singh Durbar today, however, threatened to unveil second phase of protest programs on March 15 if ruling parties did not show their seriousness for the talks.
The 30-party leaders, however, were divided over whether or not to announce its protest programs soon. Some parties in the alliance demanded that the second phase of protest programs be unveiled without delay.
According to a leader of the alliance, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum Nepal (MPRF-N)’ Upendra Yadav-led, Sadbhawana Party’ Rajendra Mahato, UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai and some fringe party leaders were for not delaying to unveil another round of protests, claiming that the ruling parties’ appeal for dialogue is nothing but a strategy for foiling the protests.
However, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, some youth leaders of the paqrty and Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar were for delaying declaring the protest programs.
“Let’s not unveil the new phase of protest programs now as Prime Minister Sushil Koirala formally has called for talks to promulgate the new constitution through consensus,” One of the leaders who participated the meeting quoted UCPN (M) chairman Dahal as saying during the meeting.
The deadline of ultimatum for consensus set by the alliance is expiring on Tuesday.
