BHAKTAPUR, July 25: Various stakeholders have asked the public to be more cautious while walking or traveling at night to protect themselves from getting bumped by high-speed tippers.

Speaking at a demonstration program regarding traffic rules organized by Bhaktapur Truck Entrepreneurs Association (BTEA) on Monday, the stakeholders stated that operating tippers at night is even more dangerous. They expressed their dissatisfaction with the government for not consulting with the stakeholders of various authorities before making the decision to allow tippers to move at night.

They pointed out that it might be difficult even to find the dead bodies if high-speed motorbikes get hit by tippers. According to the decision of the government, tippers can ply in the city from 8 pm to 5 am in the morning. Experts argued that this decision is useful neither in curbing accidents nor minimizing traffic congestion.

Mahendra Khaymali, chairperson of BTEA, said that with the implementation of the government’s decision the work done by one to three tippers is now done by eight to ten tippers.
