KATHMANDU, Nov 8: Only those who got their membership before mid-April will be participating in the upcoming 10th National General Convention of the CPN-UML.
In the inter-party directive-14 issued recently, Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that only the members, who received party membership before mid-April 2021, are eligible to become representatives to the General Convention. They will be able to vote in the General Convention.
Those completing 18 years on August 21 eligible to vote
According to UML Central Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, there were 738,000 party members as of mid-April. He said that now the number of members has reached 900,000.
A total of 1,999 representatives will participate in the general convention. The UML will elect three representatives, including at least one woman, from the 1,200 party members under the House of Representatives constituency at the General Convention.
UML is electing its representatives all over the country on November 13. The party has directed local committees concerned to send the list to the Central Committee Department by November 16 after selecting the representatives.
The UML General Convention is scheduled to be held in Chitwan from November 26 to 28. A Main Organizing Committee has been formed under the coordination of Ram Bahadur Thapa for holding the General Convention.
