District administration offices in Valley decide to provide only essential services from Sunday as COVID-19 cases rise

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the three district administrations in the Kathmandu Valley have decided to shut down all services except the essential ones effective from Sunday.

KATHMANDU, Aug 8: Amid rising COVID-19 cases, the three district administrations in the Kathmandu Valley have decided to shut down all its services except the essential ones effective from Sunday. 


A joint meeting of the chief district officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts decided to provide only essential services in the Valley for 15 days effective from Sunday.

Talking to Republica, Janak Dahal, chief district officer of Kathmandu district, said that the meeting also decided to seal off areas where the number of COVID-19 cases has been rising.


The meeting also decided to effectively enforce the odd-even vehicle rule in the Kathmandu Valley.


In the meantime, the government has already decided to restrict the movement of people between 9 pm to 5 am in these districts in order to contain the growing cases of the COVID-19.


Likewise, all passenger vehicles are banned from entering the Kathmandu Valley between 7 pm to 7 am each day. This rule, however, will not apply to vehicles belonging to essential services.
