KOHALPUR, March 18: One person, who was injured during the clash between the the cadres of the United Democratic Madheshi Front (UDMF) and the police on March 14 in Nepalgunj, has died while undergoing treatment in ICU of Nepalgunj Medical College on Saturday.


Jamil Bhat, 74, of Sonpur-8, Banke succumbed to injuries in course of treatment on Saturday morning. He was injured in section of Nepalgunj- Gulariya highway, during the clash between of the police with the cadres of UDMF who were protesting against the mass meeting of CPN-UML, as a part of the Mechi-Mahakali Campaign.

Meanwhile, the UDMF has accused the police for the death of Bhat and demanded for the proper investigation of the incident. Co-General Secretary of the Terai Madhesh Democratic Party Pashupati Dyal Mishra urged the government to provide financial compensation to the bereaved family and to investigate the incident to drag the culprit to the justice.


Scores of people were injured on the day when the protestors were forcing to shut the district to interrupt the program of the CPN-UML and had clashed with the police.
