One more arrested in connection with temple theft in Dhanusha

JANAKPURDHAM, July 19: One more absconding accused has been arrested after allegedly stealing the statue of Rajdevi temple located in Chhireshwarnath Municipality-1, Ramdaiya, Dhanusha.

The arrested is 23-year-old Mohammad Nasib who lives in Kuchai tole, ward no 6, of the same municipality.

According to the Dhanusha police, Nasib, who was absconding after the robbery, arms embezzlement and organized crime cases, was arrested on Tuesday.

Dhanusha Police Spokesperson and DSP Bed Prasad Gautam informed Republica that he was arrested for stealing the idol of the temple and had been hiding for the past five months.

On February 26, five persons including Samana Nasib stole from the Rajdevi temple of Janaki Medical College. Earlier, the police arrested five people, including 30-year-old Sharif Muslim of Bideha Municipality-4, the mastermind behind the theft.

22-year-old Nasrudin Sah, Habgullah Sah of the same place, 37-year-old Rajak Mohammad of Kshireshwornath Municipality-5 and 22-year-old Ramesh Kumar Mahato of Hathamunda Kamala Municipality-7 have already been arrested.

They were arrested from Railway Leak in Jankanandani Rural Municipality-3, Mahuwa, while they were going to India with the stolen goods.

The police have recovered a pistol-knife and a bullet, a silver ring weighing 2 kg, an idol, a silver crown weighing 25 tolas, a silver crown weighing 1 kg, a silver plate weighing 500 grams, a silver ball weighing 15 tolas, a silver bell weighing 12 tolas, a gold mantika weighing 6 annas, a gold nathia weighing ten annas, a gold chain weighing four annas, a nose ring weighing 1 anna, earrings weighing 6 annas, and cash along with the donation box from them.

Also, 13 mobile phones, 11,500 in cash, 2 kg of silver ingots, 7 plates of brass, 1 hammer, among other items, were recovered from them.
