KATHMANDU, Oct 30 : One killed and seven people were injured when the two political groups exchanged fire at Ramnagar Rural Municipality in Sarlahi on Tuesday morning.
Police Inspector in the district, Kundan Dev, told Republica Online by phone that Rambilas Mahato from Ramnagar Rural Municipality-4 was killed on the spot and seven others were injured when the two political groups exchanged fire in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Gunfire in Sarlahi, one woman injured
According to sources, the two clashing groups belong to Nepal Communist Party and Nepali Congress. The deceased, 55, was from the major opposition Nepali Congress.
The group also attacked 12 houses of local residents including ward-4 chairman Ramnaresh Mahato.
Inspector Dev also said that the police have already been mobilized to take the situation under the control. The police have yet to seize the gun and bullets.
