JHAPA, Dec 11: One person was killed while five others were injured in a road accident at Triveni Chowk in Bahardashi Rural Municipality-3 today morning. The deceased has been identified as Pramod Chandra Upreti, 34, of Bhagudubba in the same ward.

The injured have been identified as Kimari Niraula, 55, Geeta Ghimire, 55, Ranjita Niraula, 21, Durga Ghimire, 17, and Vishal Poudel, 12, of Kachankawal Rural Municipality. They are undergoing treatment at B and C Hospital, Birtamod.

The accident took place when a bus (Pra 01-001-Kha 3524) heading from north to south and the van (Me 1 Cha 2226) heading to the opposite direction collided head-on at Charpane Rajgad road this morning.

The van driver Upreti, who was injured in the accident, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital, according to District Police Office spokesperson Basanta Pathak. Further investigation into the accident is currently underway.
