One dies while cleaning well

KATHMANDU, May 20: A 22-year-old worker Tilku Moruyari of Sunsari district died of asphyxiation while cleaning a well in the premises of Bimal Parajuli in Koteshwor, near Balkumari Bridge on Monday.



According to police Sub-Inspector Jeeban Shrestha of Metropolitan Police Sector Office, Koteshwor, Moruyari died due to asphyxiation. He said, “Moruyari and his friend had begun cleaning the well at 4pm and after about 45 minutes he was found dead.” Citing his friend, Inspector Shrestha, said that both of them had climbed down with the help of a rope but Moruyari failed to climb up due to suffocation.”



The friend of the deceased told the police that he had tried to save Moruyari but failed in the attempt as the well was full of water and lacking in oxygen. A team of Nepal Army and Nepal Police had reached the spot for rescue, but till then he was already dead, SI Shrestha said. A team of Janasewa Police had pulled out the body from the well. The body has been sent to TUTH for post mortem.
