Mechi highway remains obstructed

ILAM, Oct. 1: Transport workers obstructed Mechi Highway today demanding legal action against those responsible for attacking their colleagues.
Police said two transport workers were injured in an attack by an unidentified group at Saredangi of Jhapa along Mechi Highway two days ago. To protest the attack, the workers obstructed the highway demanding take legal action against the accused and strengthened security on highway.
Suman Shrestha, a worker leader, said a taxi driver and his helper were hurt in the attack. They are being treated at a hospital of Birtamod.
Many passengers heading for long and short routes have been stranded in the mid-way due to the obstruction.
Chitwan traffic partially affected

CHITWAN, Oct. 1: A banda called by transport entrepreneurs partially affected normal life in Chitwan district.
The strike was called to protest the act of haphazardly granting route permits to local transport committees. Transporters say such a decision was uncalled for.
Soon after Chitwan Microbus Entrepreneurs´ Committee started plying buses on Narayangarh-Sauraha route, local committees operating vehicles on the road called chakkajam. Since banda supporters were assembled in only a few selected areas, the strike caused partial impact.
