CHITWAN, August 7: The District Public Health Office (DPHO), Chitwan, has confirmed the death of woman from scrub typhus.
The woman in her mid 20s of Rajahar of Nawalparasi district was admitted to Narayani Community Hospital, Chitwan, on August 5, died on August 6 in course of treatment, said vector controller at the DPHO, Ram Kumar KC.
Take effective measures to stop the spread of scrub typhus
Out of 109 people infected with the disease in last fiscal year, four died, according to data with the DPHO. Likewise, out of 264 people, who underwent scrub typhus test, till the date from July 16, 75 people were found infected with the disease.
According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD), the disease has been detected in more than 27 districts with more than 100 people infected with it. Of the infected, Chitwan recorded the highest number.
Similarly, more than 130 people suffering from swine flu (influenza H1N1) have been found in Chitwan, the DPHO said.
Vector controller KC said that 137 people were found tested positive for swine flu during the period between June 2 to July 24. RSS
