Motorcycle rider CPN-UML Kailali district organization department member and office assistant of the local peace committee Bir Bahadur Chaudhary (24) died while undergoing treatment at local Ghodaghodi Hospital. Chaudhary was admitted to the hospital after he was injured in the accident.
A pillion rider who was injured in the accident has been taken to Lucknow in India for further treatment. The truck driver has been absconding.
Meanwhile, eight persons including litterateur and journalist Byakul Pathak sustained injuries when a jeep belonging to Nepal Samacharpatra daily collided with a road divider at Rabi Bhawan in Kathmandu last night.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Kathmandu Model Hospital. Police have arrested jeep driver Pratap Gharti Magar for the investigation.
Likewise, Lalit Dangi of Kantipur publication and Anish Ale of Lalitpur were injured when their motorcycles collided near Baber Mahal yesterday. Both of them have been released after treatment at Bir Hospital while police have seized their motorcycles.
