KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Police on Sunday arrested a person for smearing soot on the managing director of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), Sugat Ratna Kansakar, on Friday amid allegations of his key role in corruption in the procurement of wide-body aircraft.
A team of officials from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Teku, arrested Suresh Tamang, a member of the Revolutionary Youth League (RYL), a sister organization of Mohan Baidya-led Communist Party of Nepal (Revolutionary Maoist) from Chandragiri Municipality-4, Thankot at around 11:30 am on Sunday.

Chief of the MPCD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dhiraj Pratap Singh informed Republica that Tamang was arrested on the charge of manhandling Kansakar and smearing soot on him in his office on Friday.
According to SSP Singh, a guard at Kansakar's office who had witnessed the incident had identified Tamang as one of the three persons who smeared soot on Kansakar's face.
“The guard at the office had confirmed that Tamang was one of the three culprits,” he said, adding, “In addition, Tamang himself has confessed to the crime.”
Adding that the other two culprits are currently at large, SSP Singh refrained from telling who the other two alleged culprits are.
