“I do not comment on any other party leader in public,” Khanal told journalists in Pokhara on Saturday. Stating that there was no misunderstanding between the leaders in his party, he said that he was yet to know under what context Oli compared him to Jung Bahadur.
Oli had on Friday commented in Biratnagar that the Butwal General Convention had elected Khanal as the chairman not knowing that he would turn to be a dictator like “Jung Bahadur” over time. Oli also blamed Khanal for “talking too much” in recent days. Oli was defeated by Khanal for the party´s top post in the convention.
Commenting on Oli´s remarks, Khanal said, “It is time to purge the party of all individualistic, anarchist and power hungry leaders.” Khanal further said that the prevailing differences among the three major political parties were dangerous for the country. He also said that his party was in favor of a consensus candidate for the constitutional committee.
“All three parties have turned to three different directions. If the situation continues, there is a possibility of foreign interference,” Khanal warned.
