KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Overturning former Prime Minister’s recommendations of National Assembly members, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has proposed Yubaraj Khatiwada, Ramnarayan Bidari and Bimala Rai Paudel in today’s cabinet meeting, a source said.
"The government has recommended three names but it is yet to publicize the candidates,”Lal Babu Pandit, Minister of Population and Environment said.
Earlier, Sher Bahadur Deuba had recommended Krishna Prasad Paudel, Gopal Basnet and Chandani Joshi as the government’s pick for the National Assembly during a cabinet meeting. Deuba drew flanks for his unilateral picks that the President was likely to rethink.
Yubaraj Khatiwada is a former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Ramnarayan Bidari, is senior advocate and former CA member (appointed) recommended by Maoist Center and Bimala Rai Paudel is former member of National Planning Commission.
A senior UML leader said Khatiwada was likely to head the Ministry of Finance.
