Oli claimed that there was no reason to take action against him. "If the party should take action against anyone, it should be against the person who gives such speeches in the public instead of raising the issues in party meetings," Oli told reporters. "Why to take action? Can action be taken against anyone on a whim of a particular person?" he asked.
While addressing a gathering of UML cadres in Kathmandu on Thursday, party chairman Jhala Nath Khanal had indicated that action could be taken against Oli and vice chairperson Bidya Bhandari for making critical remarks against him through the media.
Oli said he would ruthlessly retaliate against anyone who hatches conspiracy to bring division in the party. "If one tries to invite dispute in the party by raising nonsense issues, we will be like a tigress who is infuriated for irritating her cubs," he said.
Saying that he was the one who transformed Khanal and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal into communist cadres, Oli claimed that his contribution to the UML party, the country and the people was more than any other leader.
He urged Khanal to treat other leaders and the party rank and file in a gentlemanly manner. "One should be gentleman after being elected as the top leader of the party. Becoming rude and giving aggressive speeches should not be a nature of a top leader," he said.
