BHAKTAPUR. Feb 18: After being elected as the Parliamentary Party leader, CPN (Maoist Center) Chiarman Puspa Kamal Dahal said, “Today we (Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chair Dahal) have a special topic to discuss.”
Dahal didn’t spend a lot of time in the parliamentary party meeting. Instead, he headed to meet PM Oli at Balkot, Bhaktapur. However, midway, the two decided to meet at Durga Parsai’s residence in Thimi.
Parsai is the proprietor of debated Jhapa-based B&C Medical College which is yet to get affiliation from university.
During his stint, Chair Dahal expedited the process to grant affiliation to Jhapa-based B&C Medical College and he had allegedly put unsuccessful pressure on Nepal Medical Council (NMC) to submit its preliminary findings to Ministry of Education (MoE).
Oli and Dahal’s meeting will finalize party unification process and decide if the Maoist Centre is to join the government or not, a source said. Dahal has repeatedly focused on party unification over government formation.
A Party Unification Coordination Committee meeting scheduled for yesterday was postponed for today.
Earlier, both leaders used to meet at the residence of Sharada Sharma, Contractors Association member. The urgent meeting of UML party standing committee was also held at her residence.
