OKHALDHUNGA, Oct 1: The chairman of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) Okhaldhunga, Dilliram Khanal, has passed away. He was 73.
Khanal passed away last night during treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajganj, in Kathmandu. He was suffering from cancer.
He was elected as a ward member of Siddhicharan Municipality-3 in the 2079 elections and was later elected unopposed as the DCC chairperson. Former Vice-Chair of Nepali Congress District Working Committee, Okhaldhunga, Khanal was a leading figure of the party in the district.
Khanal is survived by his two sons and two daughters. Khanal will be cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat later today, according to the family sources.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress leader and MP from Okhaldhunga Ramhari Khatiwada said that the death of Khanal has caused irreparable damage to the party and the entire Okhaldhunga district.
