The building that has witnessed the catastrophic earthquake in 1990, 2045, and 2068 BS is in the state of collapsing at any time, said Deputy Auditor General, Somraj Pokhrel. He stressed on the need of shifting the office to any other place without a delay.
The senior officers led by the acting auditor general had visited Ministry of Finance requesting for management of the necessary budget but the efforts went in vain.
"Following the regular efforts from the office, the government had allocated Rs.1.2 million but it was too little to carry out maintenance", said Pokhrel.
He explained about the project of making a 10-storey building at the cost of Rs. 650 million at five ropanis and two anas of land at Sano Gaucharan, Gyaneshwor, and the budget allocated from the ministry has been released to the Urban Development and Building Construction Department for building sketch and designing of the 10-storey building.
The office has appealed to the Finance Ministry to allocate the budget for the construction in the fiscal year 2069/2070 BS and Minister for Finance Barshaman Pun took it positively, said Deputy Auditor General Bimala Subedi.
