CHITWAN, Nov 27: The statute of CPN-UML has been amended to accommodate aspirants of office-bearers in the party's 10th national General Convention. The last meeting of the current Central Committee held at Sauraha in Chitwan last night decided to submit a proposal to increase the number of posts in the closed session to be held today.

According to UML central office secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, there will be 301 members in the central committee, 99 in the politburo, 45 in the standing committee, and 19 office bearers in the secretariat. Accordingly, there will be one chairperson and one senior vice-chairperson, six vice-chairpersons, one general secretary, three deputy general secretaries, and seven secretaries. The meeting has decided to unanimously elect all office-bearers of the party.
The closed session of the general convention started at 10 am today with the sharing of statements of good wishes from foreign parties and delegates. The UML has claimed that the statute has been amended keeping in view the upcoming election.
