Gold price hits six-year high

Gold price has hit a six-year high at Rs. 64,400 per tola (11.333 grams).  The yellow metal was traded at a price Rs 60,100 per tola on Wednesday, the highest in six years time. The precious metal cost Rs 60,000 per tola on October 13, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association. Gold price had hovered between US $ 1,221 and 1,229 per ounce in the international market in the last 10 days.

Fourteen people killed in road accidents during Dashain in Valley

Fourteen people died in road accidents in Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain festival time. According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), these many people were killed in road accidents from the day of Ghatasthapana on October 10 through Kojagrat Poornima on October 24. The victims are mostly drivers or pedestrians. 

Seven rhinos died at CNP in three months

Altogether seven rhinos died in Chitwan National Park (CNP) due to natural causes in the first three months of the current fiscal year, officials confirmed. Chief Conservation Officer of CNP Bed Kumar Dhakal said that the rhinos died due to old age, infighting, and languishing in the swamp. Likewise, a male rhino hit a female to death, a crocodile gobbled up a baby rhino and next one died due to kidneys and lungs related infections. 

Japan extends grant aid for implementation of rehabilitation of Sindhuli road

The Government of Japan has extended a grant assistance of Rs 1.085 billion to the Government of Nepal for the rehabilitation of the Sindhuli road affected by the 2015 earthquake. Masamichi Saigo, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Dr. Rajan Khanal, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance signed notes to this effect amid a special program organized at the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.

Indian leader Sitaram Yechury arrives in Kathmandu on five-day visit

General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Sitaram Yechury has arrived in Kathmandu at the invitation of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP). The NCP leaders welcomed the Yechuri-led Indian delegation at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday morning. Yechury, an old Nepal hand, will meet President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leaders during his five-day stay in Kathmandu.

Nepal defeats Maldives by 4 goals in SAFF U15 Championship​
Nepal's U15 football team defeated Maldives by four goals in its first match at the SAFF U15 Championship. The game was held at ANFA Complex, Satdobato.
