KATHMANDU, Jan 12: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has won 68.27 per cent of the cases that it filed in the fiscal year 2023/24.
The office shared this in a press conference it organized after submitting its Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2023/24 to President Ram Chandra Paudel on Sunday.
It is stated in the Report that OAG achieved success in 68.27 per cent of the total cases decided in the last fiscal year.

"In the review year, the government attorney offices have prosecuted 45,091 cases against a total 70,284 defendants. A decision has been made not to prosecute 7.88 per cent of the cases into which investigations were carried out, which is an increase compared to the previous fiscal year," the report stated.
The report also mentions that OAG carried out various policy reforms in order to make the prosecution process based on scientific evidence and the criminal justice system more robust.
On the occasion, Attorney General Ramesh Badal said it is necessary to enhance the capacity of the investigators and the prosecutors for the prevention and control of new forms and trends of crime spurred by technology and in view of the expansion of the scope of works of the government attorney office.
