Nyadi Hydropower awards all contracts to Chinese firm

KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nyadi Hydropower Limited (NHL) has awarded its civil, hydro mechanical and electro mechanical contracts to China-based Zhejiang Hydropower Construction & Installation Co Ltd. NHL has already signed an agreement with the Chinese company to build the 30-megawatt project in EPC model.

Rajiv Raj Bhandari, chairman of Nyadi Hydropower and Zhejiang Chairman Liu Guoqing signed the agreement on Monday. Construction work is scheduled to begin from February.

The project is expected to complete in 38 months. The project is located in Bahundada of Lamjung. A consortium of banks led by Everest Bank has co-financed the project. Water of Nyadi River will pass through a 4-kilometer tunnel and flow to the powerhouse through 750 penstock pipe.

The project will generate 168 GWh of energy annually. Butwal Power Company Limited and Lamjung Bidhyut Bikash Company Limited are the promoters of Nyadi Hydropower.
