NVA announces its annual calendar

KATHMANDU, May 16: Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA) on Wednesday announced its annual calendar a month after its election. The yearly calendar reveled during a function at the National Sports Council, Tripureshwar includes eight major tournaments and other local tournaments.



According to the calendar, volleyball tournaments will be conducted every month expect in June and July. [break]



General Secretary of the NVA, Jitendra Bahadur Chand, said that the association had been busy after the election planning to develop the game. “We have included all our plans in the calendar.”



President Dan Bahadur Tamang said the association´s top priority was to develop the game while development of infrastructure was its long term goal. “We have allocated Rs 21.5 million for the whole tournaments and have asked the National Sports Council (NSC) for funds,” said Tamang.



He further said NVA will build its own indoor stadium within 5-7 years and also build a high altitude covered hall to attract tourists. “In order to develop beach volleyball, NVA will build five beach volleyball courts in five development regions.”



General Secretary Chand said that the association will select the national team after the NVA Cup men´s and women´s volleyball tournament.



“Some good players of Army missed the chance to be in the national team as Nepal Army did not participated in the Sixth National Games. We will select a new national team from NVA Cup.”



NVA will organize women´s beach volleyball tournament in the first week of June and after that tournament there will be no tournaments for two months. NVA will felicitate the best players at the end of Nepali calendar.
