KATHMANDU, April 5: The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) office at Bhrikutimandap wore a deserted look on Sunday, with majority of the office-bearers and staff named in the charge sheet filed by the CIAA at the Special Court last Friday.
A total of 23 staffs including two sitting secretaries have been charged of corruption by the anti-watchdog body.

Majority of the rooms in the NTB today remained empty with only security personnel on regular duty and some remaining staffers. The remaining few staffers too were concerned considering their possibility of being implicated in course of further investigation into case involving more than Rs. 120 million.

When approached, the staffers did not want to speak about the case while some requested for anonymity.

Meanwhile, an emergency meeting of the board has been called for 5:00 pm today in order to decide the way to move forward, said Spokesperson of the line Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation Mohan Krishna Sapkota.

When asked for comments about the NTB-related issue, tourism entrepreneur Dipak Mahat said it was a matter of shame for the entire tourism industry while pointing out that the government should facilitate smooth functioning of the board. RSS
