KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Chief Executive Officer Dhananjay Regmi has filed a contempt and defamation case against nine people, including Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale in the Supreme Court.

In the case filed by CEO Regmi, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order not to immediately implement the decision of the Board of Directors made on December 29 to suspend him. CEO Regmi filed a case in the Supreme Court on Tuesday alleging that the Board of Directors had submitted a report in the name of investigation and also sought clarification in the absence of another decision of the order.

The NTB had decided to investigate CEO Regmi and suspend him. Regmi has been given a week to respond to the report.

A single bench of Justice Dipak Kumar Karki earlier issued a short-term order not to implement the decision to suspend him summoning both the parties again on February 14. However, Regmi has filed a case against Minister Ale, including the members of the board of directors and the invited members, saying that they have acted against the orders of the Supreme Court.

CEO Regmi has filed defamation and contempt cases against Minister Ale, Tourism Secretary and Chairman of the Board Maheshwar Neupane, Vice Chairman Chandra Rijal and other members and Director General of Department of Tourism and invited member Taranath Adhikari. Similarly, NTB board members Pampa Devi Dhami, Biplav Poudel, Dawa Ngima Sherpa, Krishna Kumar Shah and Hom Prasad Luitel have also been made defendants in the case.
