NTA expands executive committee

KATHMANDU, March 4: The third general assembly of Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) has amended its statute and expanded the size of its central executive committee from 23 to 33 members.



The third general assembly that concluded in Pokhara on Monday also decided to form an advisory council to support and make suggestions to the NTA executive committee. According to NTA Central Office chief Hemanta Dangi, the advisory council will comprise sports lovers and well-known figures from different walks of life.[break]



The general assembly also endorsed NTA programs for the upcoming year and decided to host the Mount Everest International Taekwondo Championship every two years.



The general assembly vowed to be the number one association among all the national sports associations. Earlier, the government had awarded NTA as the best sports association for the Nepali calendar year 2068.



A representative each from 65 districts and the executive committee members had participated in the general assembly.



Earlier, Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports Hari Prasad Nepal has inaugurated the general assembly on Monday morning. During the inauguration ceremony, NTA awarded Koteshwar Taekwondo Dojang and Syuchatar Dojang as the best dojangs of the country. Likewise, NTA felicitated its Kaski chapter president Jagan Gurung, International Nepalese Taekwondo Association (INTA) Korea Chapter Advisor Madan KC, Nepal Sports Academy chief Keshavraj Gautam and its former vice-president Binod Singh for their contribution to development of taekwondo in Nepal.
