NT begins study for optical fiber in far west
It is the first time that the state-owned telecommunication company has connected the Himalayan district through the optical fiber. According to NT, it has recently upgraded its system to an optical fiber link with capacity of 10 gbps from the existing radio link mechanism to offer its services.
The upgraded system will help improve the telephone service, internet and 4G networks in locations such as Sagarmatha Base Camp, Khumjung, Namche, Lukla, Salleri and Phaplu, among others. Likewise, it will also help solve the mobile traffic problem in adjoining districts that include Okhaldhunga and Khotang, according to NT.
