NSC launches School Sports Teacher Course

KATHMANDU, Aug 26: National Sports Council (NSC) is conducting School Sports Teacher Course from Sunday.



NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama inaugurated the training program amidst a function in Lalitpur on Monday. The course will be conducted in all the five development regions. [break]



According to NSC, altogether 1,000 enthusiasts had applied for the course but NSC has selected only 627 for the training. The course will be conducted in six different places as 114 trainee will attend the course in Biratnagar, 83 in Birgunj, 55 in Pokhara, 130 in Nepalgunj, 115 in Dhangadhi and 130 in the capital.



All trainees will get basic traning on athletics, table tennis, football, volleyball and cricket as compulsory sports and pick one additional sports from among karate, taekwondo and wushu . The level-I course will conclude on October 15.



"We will conduct the course in three levels. We hope the course will help produce qualified manpower to impart tranings at the school level," said NSC Member Secretary Yubaraj Lama.



NSC Treasurer Indra Bahadur Thing said that the course would help players get employment in schools as sports teachers.
