The association has demanded revision in the definition of Nepalis residing foreign countries and other provisions in the Act related to NRN. Through the declaration, the NRNA has also demanded the government to include dual citizenship provision in the new constitution. [break]
Though the government has started distributing ID cards for NRNs, it is being hugely criticized as NRNA has been maintaining that it alone is not enough for encouraging NRN´s investment for socio-economic transformation of Nepal. However, the declaration is silent on the modality of investment.
NRNA had introduced the concept of collective investment several years back. “Initiatives for collective investment have already been taken by some national coordination councils, while some others are preparing to promote it,” the declaration states.
NRNA has decided to accord high priority to knowledge and technology transfer and human resources development. NRNA plans to set up open university and promoted distant education in in collaboration with renowned universities across the world.
The NRNA conference also expressed commitment to make investment in social service and philanthropic works.
More than 350 participants from over a dozen countries participated in the three-day conference.
