KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA-Badri KC group) organized a health camp in Rimna Rural Municipality in earthquake-hit Jajarkot district.

Over 200 people got health tests at the camp organized on Saturday by the World Health Committee under the NRNA, said the NRNA.

Besides the distribution of health materials to be safe from possible diseases, the beneficiaries were provided with medicines and counseling about mental health, it has been said. A team of doctors and health workers from Kathmandu provided health service to the victims. Most of the beneficiaries were suffering from breathing problems, injuries and mental illness, said the doctors deployed to the camp. Earlier, a health service hotline was operated targeting the quake-ravaged areas.

Not launching rescue operations and providing relief materials and medical treatment in time may put the quake victims at a risk of pneumonia and cold, warned the doctors.

Pregnant and post-partum women in the area are at greater risk due to cold, said health experts assigned to the camp.

The NRNA has called for paying attention to the health of pregnant women and children in particular in the quake-hit areas, and facilitating their rescue.
