NRNA Australia General Secretary Adhikari calls on PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, Feb 2: Raju  Babu Adhikari, general secretary of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Australia has met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

In the meeting held on Thursday at the Prime Minister's Residence, Baluwatar, Adhikari briefed Prime Minister Dahal on the issue of taking Nepali workers to Australia. After the meeting, the Adhikari said, “I informed the Prime Minister about the problems faced by the Nepali people due to the lack of manpower in the Nepali embassy in Australia. The Prime Minister has said that he will take initiatives to solve the problem.”

Adhikari also met with  President of Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Labor Employment and Social Security Minister Dol Prasad Aryal and Felicity Volk, Australian Ambassador. In the meeting, Adhikari informed them about the various issues raised by the NRNA.

In the meeting, Adhikari suggested that it would be appropriate to proceed with the process of taking semi-skilled workers to Australia. He said that some Nepali students in Australia have psychological problems and for that necessary steps should be taken to solve them.

In the meeting, the issue of bringing tourists from Australia to Nepal was also discussed. In 2022,  around 27,000 tourists from Australia visited Nepal. Also, it is said that the NRNA Australia is taking initiatives to bring in more Australian tourists.
