KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has announced Rs 50 million in immediate assistance for the rescue, relief and healthcare of people affected by Wednesday’s devastating Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.
The decision was made at a virtual meeting chaired by NRNA President Dr Hemraj Sharma. The association said the funds will support relief supplies, medical services and rehabilitation in the affected areas.
NRNA has also decided to mobilize a medical team to provide primary treatment, health checkups and medicines to those affected by the disaster.

NRNA founder president Dr Upendra Mahato has pledged support for deploying a specialized team of doctors along with necessary medical personnel and supplies.
The association has formed a high-level relief and rescue committee chaired by Sharma, as well as committees for fundraising and volunteer mobilization. Treasurer Krishna Timalsina will coordinate the fundraising committee.
The high-level committee will coordinate with the Government of Nepal, local authorities and NRNA’s national committees to identify priorities and organize relief efforts.
Former NRNA Chief Executive Officer Ravikiran Adhikari has been designated as the focal person for coordination with the government.
NRNA national committees in the UK, Canada, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Seychelles, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and China have also pledged financial support for the relief campaign.
