NRN Association is organizing the event in coordination with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
Speaking at the press meet, office-bearers of NRN Association said the conference will focus on issues like ensuring participation of women and second generation in NRN movement, role of NRNs in disaster preparedness and measures to be taken to make foreign employment dignified among others.
The conference will also hold discussions on different issues, including opportunities and challenges for NRNs to inject fresh investment in Nepal and the revision of laws concerning the NRNs.
“The conference will mainly focus on discussions aimed at promoting of foreign investment in Nepal,” said Dev Man Hirachan, central president of NRN Association, said in the meet. “The conference will also hold discussions on several social and national issues.”
According to Hirachan, the conference will also discuss dual citizenship, establishment of open university and involvement of NRNs in social service sector.
“We are studying the prospects of joint investment from NRNs in Nepal,” added Hirachan.
Suraj Vaidhya, president of FNCCI, said the NRN movement would be crucial for the country´s economic transformation. He also requested the NRNs to help bring more foreign direct investment (FDI) in Nepal. “Nepal offers plenty of investment potentials. But we have so failed to effectively exploit it,” he added.
The conference, which will see participation of around 700 NRNs from 57 countries, will also elect the association´s new leadership for the two-year term.
