KATHMANDU, Feb 7: The Nepal Press Union has condemned the police attack on journalist Prakash Dhakal.
Dhakal was injured when the police baton-charged him while covering the report about protest enforced on Tuesday by students of Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara over the death of a college student in a road accident.
The statement issued today by the NPU, an alliance of democratic journalists, also demanded free medical treatment for injured Dhakal, job and physical security for journalists, and a commitment from the police not to repeat such incident.
Dhakal is a member of the NPU and associated with Pokhara-based Adarsha Samaj Dainik.
