KATHMANDU, July 6: The annual general meeting (AGM) of Nepal-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NPCCI) held recently has elected a new leadership led by Blessie Gadon Dhakal. Dhakal has been elected as the new president for a two-year term.
Shova Gyawali has been elected as senior vice president of NPCCI. Savacion Prado Shakya, Luzviminda Paluyo Thapa, Michelle Uy Kharel and Darlene Enrile Bania have been elected as new junior vice president, secretary general, joint secretary and treasurer respectively, according to a press statement issued by NPCCI on Wednesday. Likewise, Marivic Alonzo Gurung, Eva Nancy Thapa and Kushan Pradhan are the new board members.

“The new team aims to augment relationship of Nepal and the Philippines by focusing on economic development of both countries through associating and promoting welfare of business and industrial communities,” reads the statement.
Consul General of the Republic of Philippines to Nepal Suraj Vaidya administered the oath-taking ceremony to the new team at VOITH Complex Anandnagar, Dhumbarahi on Wednesday.
Speaking at the AGM, newly-elected Senior Vice President Gyawali said that they will further enhance stronger ties between the business communities in Nepal and the Philippines.
Gyawali said, “The chamber must play a key role in facilitating business opportunities and creating a favorable environment for the companies to come in and invest.”
Gyawali also hailed the contribution made by Filipinos living in Nepal to Nepal's economy. “I hope that the new leadership will work toward making Nepal's ties stronger than ever before and take bilateral relations to a new height,” added Gyawali.
