NPC sets Rs 1.9 trillion budget ceiling for next FY

According to ministry sources, the NPC submitted the budget estimate report to the Finance Ministry on Tuesday. According to the constitution, there is a provision to submit the budget for the upcoming FY May 29, 2025.

KATHMANDU, Feb 19:  National Planning Commission (NPC) has set a budget ceiling of around Rs 1.9 trillion for the upcoming Fiscal Year 2025/26. The NPC recommended the Ministry of Finance to set an expenditure ceiling of around Rs 1.9 trillion based on initial resource estimates.

According to ministry sources, the NPC submitted the budget estimate report to the Finance Ministry on Tuesday. According to the constitution, there is a provision to submit the budget for the upcoming FY May 29, 2025.


A budget of Rs 1.86 trillion was brought in the current FY 2024/25. However, after a review by Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, the budget has been reduced to Rs 1.692 trillion. Officials said further discussions will be held in the coming days on the size of the new budget.
