The event along with a reading from the debutant writer also saw poetry recitation by singer Rapper Aidray and slam poet Yukta Bajracharya. [break]
While Aidray recited a poem entitled “Kavita”, Yukta recited “home” dedicated to Kathmandu city.
Thapa, on the other hand, chose to read an excerpt from one among the 16 tales in the book.
Republica caught up with the new storyteller for a brief chitchat. Excerpts:
How long did it take for you to write the book?
Rabi Thapa: Well, to be honest, the book is more of a compilation of stories I’ve written over a long period of time. There is a story I wrote back in 2004 and there is a story that I completed in 2007. So you see I can give no exact duration of the book.

Are you thinking of writing another book?
I actually gave up my fulltime job to write. So I’ll definitely continue writing although I can’t give any specifications of what I shall be writing at the moment.
Now that the book is out in the hands of the readers what are your immediate plans?
Since I’ve no other job right now, I’ll be concentrating on writing. Back in 2001, I had begun writing a novel which is still incomplete. For now, I would like to focus on the very novel. It’s a fantasy novel by the way.
Nothing matters
