NOC pays Rs 18.5b as revenue to govt

KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Nepal Oil Corporation has paid revenue of Rs. 18.5 billion with an import of around 1,200,000 kiloliters of petroleum product in the last fiscal year 2068-69 BS.



According to information made available by the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies, presently the Corporation has a stock of 3,400 kiloliters of petroleum products.[break]



Similarly, the Department of Commerce and Supply Management raised a revenue of Rs. 64. 05 million in the period. The Department had registered 7,156 new firms and renewed 7,196 firms in the period.



The ministry has allowed the National Trading Limited and Salt Trading Corporation Ltd. to import 20,000 metric tonnes of sugar at one percent customs rate within mid-September keeping in mind possible shortage of sugar and price rise in the coming festive season, said Ministry´s Co-Spokesperson Deepak Raj Pandey.



Besides, the Ministry has decided to make arrangements for import and supply of iodized salt through the Salt Trading Corporation till the end of Asar, 2074 BS. Likewise, proposal for selling 18 ropanis of land belonging to the National Trading Ltd at Teku to public corporations has been approved and further process and study on the proposal was underway.



Similarly, 126,978 quintals of foodstuff was supplied to 30 remote districts by Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) in the last fiscal year. Likewise, 13,503 quintals of food is in stock at the National Food Security Storage and 68,150 quintals of food is in stock at the SAARC Food Bank.



According to the Ministry, a total of 46,244 quintals of iodised salt was supplied to 22 remote districts by the Salt Trading Corporation under the Leprosy Control Program in the last fiscal year.
