Senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and UML Secretary Bishnu Poudel met Unified CPN (Maoist) Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal along with Finance Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai at the latter’s official residence at Pulchowk to request their party to join the government.[break]
But, the Maoist leaders have told them that they would neither join any new government nor would they support any party in forming the next government unless President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav rectifies his step of reinstating the army chief, who was sacked by Prime Minister Dahal, said Maoist sources.
Nepal and Poudel tried to garner support from the largest party in the Constituent Assembly, after the second largest, Nepali Congress, and other political parties proposed UML leader Nepal to head the new government.
