No leadership to Madhes-based parties: Khanal

KANYAM, Oct 8: UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said that the Madhes-based parties should not be given leadership as they cannot be considered as a national party but regional.



“However, consensus among the three parties is must,” Khanal said to reporters on his visit to his home district, Ilam on Monday. [break]



He was also against the Maoist leadership for their totalism nature.



Khanal expressed his sadness on a decision of few dissent leaders including Ashok Rai to sever ties with the party but denied that such a move would leave an impact on the party. “We have been together for past 40 years. I am saddened by their decision,” Khanal added.



He expressed his condolence to family members of Fikkal and Pashupatinagar who lost their loved ones on recent landslide.
