KATHMANDU, Feb 22:
Former crown prince Paras Shah, who has been battling for life at Samitivei Hospital in the Thai capital, Bangkok, following a major heart attack that he suffered last Tuesday, is in critical condition on Friday.

Shah is on life-support in the intensive care unit (ICU) still in an unconscious state and his condition is ‘critical but stable’, Nepal’s acting ambassador to Thailand Dornath Aryal citing Dr Rajiv Shahi, one of Shah´s relatives, told Republica Online over phone. [break]

Aryal said, with a flurry of inquiries coming in, he had contacted Dr Shahi at around 11 am Nepali time today. Shahi and some other ex-royal family members are currently in Bangkok to see the former crown prince.

A day earlier, a second CT scan conducted but the report was identical to that of the first one taken on Wednesday, with both showing no major improvement. The doctors had maintained that nothing could be said about Shah’s chances of recovery prior to his MRI test, which could not be performed due to the lack of ´a certain level of his recovery´.

Meanwhile, former crown princess Himani Shah has left for Bangkok via a Thai Airway flight to visit her husband. Her personal aide Smita Singh is accompanying her.
