KATHMANDU, Sept 8: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has said it would not initiate any investigation immediately on Captain of the National Cricket Team, Sandeep Lamichhane, regarding the allegation involving rape of a minor.
CAN Chairperson Chatur Bahadur Chand shared that the CAN would not launch any investigation outright on this issue as Sandeep has only been accused and the issue is in the course of investigation by police.
"The allegation against Sandeep has not been proved yet. This might be a part of conspiracy too. Legal action against Sandeep should be initiated if he is found guilty."
According to the case filed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Gaushala, Sandeep allegedly took a girl to various places of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur for a visit on August 21, and raped her in a hotel in Kathmandu the same night. Sandeep is now in Jamaica of West Indies to play Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Cricket.
