No heavy vehicles on Aabukhaireni-Mugling section

DAMAULI, June 11: Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply the Aabu Khaireni-Mugling section of the Prithvi Highway for a few days. 


The operation of heavy vehicles has been stopped as the road near Aabukhaireni Rural Municipality-4 has been washed away after heavy rainfall. One-way traffic has been opened at the damaged section of the road and only small and light vehicles are allowed at the moment, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Yubaraj Khadka.

He said that only microbuses, small cars and motorcycles are allowed to pass through the section of the road for the time being. The Road Division Office has been working to repair the damaged section of the road since Friday. 


Meanwhile, the district administration office has completely closed the section of the road from 7 PM to 6 AM since Friday until further notice. Assistant Chief District Officer Kashiram Gaihre said that the traffic was completely stopped due to the increased risk of traveling after dark.


Two people were killed when a car and a motorcycle fell along with that section of the road. The deceased have been identified as Hem Bahadur Bhujel, 35, of Hetauda and Keshav Ghimire, 33, of Aabukhaireni-2, Gorkha, according to the District Police Office, Tanahu.
