JHAPA, June 22: Locals have no choice but to travel to neighboring Indian towns for medical treatment as two primary health centers in Phikkal and Pashupatinagar in eastern Ilam do not have doctors. The locals travel to Darjeeling, Mirik and Silgadi for treatment.

Dr Yagya Kharel of the health center in Phikkal is on an education leave, while Dr Lochan Subedi left the health center in Pashupatinagar saying he cannot work there.
