BARDIYA, July 24: A pall of grief has descended on the family of a retired police man after his sons mysteriously went missing several days ago. Ghanashyam Sigdel, a resident of Gulariya in Bardiya, has failed to trace his twin sons even after over a week of relentless search.

Ghanashyam´s twin sons -- Ram and Laxman -- had left home on July 15 to attend a coaching class. They have been missing since. The elder brother of Ram and Laxman has gone to India in search of his missing siblings. “We contacted all our relatives, but to no avail,” Madhavi, mother of the missing twins, told myrepublica.com. Bardiya and adjacent districts have witnessed several abductions in recent months. “However, no one has so far contacted us for ransom,” said Madhavi.

Generally, the twin brothers used to go to the coaching class on a bicycle. However, they went on foot the day they went missing as it was raining outside.

According to a class-mate of the missing brothers, a teacher had forcibly made them beat up a student of lower grade in their school the day before they went missing. “Ram and Laxman had never earlier quarreled with any one in school,” he said.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Surya Prasad Upadhyay, investigation into the incident is on. “We are yet to find a lead,” DSP Upadhyay said. “Nothing has been confirmed till now.”
