NMC Chairman Gautam tenders resignation

KATHMANDU, April 5: Chairman of Nepal Medical Council (NMC) Dr Jageshwor Gautam has tendered his resignation from the post. Dr Gautam was appointed as Chairman of the NMC on November 26, 2014.



Since affiliations to new medical colleges were given when Dr Gautam as NMC Chairman, it is said that his resignation come as the government prepares to implement the agreement reached with Prof. Dr Govinda KC.

Prof. Dr KC had in his demand letter sought action against the officials of the NMC and Kathmandu University as they had given affiliations to new medical college even though a committee formed under Prof. Dr Kedar Bhakta Mathema was still conducting its study.


The government has formed a high-level study committee to find ways to implement the demands raised by Dr KC during his hunger strikes.
