Nine students arrested in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Nov 17 : Police have arrested nine students for taking hostage the registrar of the Agriculture and Forest Science University and the Chair of the Service commission.

CHITWAN, Nov 17 : Police have arrested nine students for taking hostage the registrar of the Agriculture and Forest Science University and the Chair of the Service commission. 


Registrar Manraj Kolakchapati and commission Chair Ramnath Ojha were held hostage inside their office. Police had to use force to free them and send them home.

Those arrested on Friday evening are the ANNFSU unit chair Hem Raj Kathayat, Bhaskar Singh Thakuri, Santosh Khatiwada, Keshav Raj Kafley, Abit Regmi, Jhalak Joshi, Darshan Adhikari, Bamdev Regmi and Suman Pandey, according to the District Police Office. 


The students as well as university teachers have come out in protest after the private colleges affiliated to the university announced admission open. They had also locked up the university gate, which was opened by police on Thursday morning. RSS
