Nimbus to compensate bird-flu hit farmer

KATHMANDU, April 22: Nimbus is providing Rs 419,250 as compensation to poultry entrepreneur Rajendra Hamal who suffered huge loss following bird-flu outbreak in his farm in Mangalpur-7 of Chitwan.



The compensation will be extended from ´Bird-flu Relief Fund´ under Nimbus Helping Hand -- a CSR sheme of Nimbus Group. Nimbus had announced the CSR scheme on December 29, 2012. [break]



The government had recently confirmed avian influenza in Hamal´s farm. The Rapid Response Team under Department of Livestock Services on April 19 culled 3,225 chickens in the affected farm.



Issuing a press statement on Monday, Nimbus said the compensation amount will be handed over to the concerned entrepreneur in the presence of representatives from government offices, Nepal Veterinary Association and other stakeholders.



Earlier, Nimbus had provided Rs 343,200 as compensation to owner of the poultry farm in Sitapaila of Kathmandu where bird-flu was confirmed.
